At Lea & Simmons Funeral Group we take pride in being a local business that is family owned and operated. All our owners grew up in Haywood County. Our Funeral Director of the Bells Funeral Home grew up in Crockett County. At Lea & Simmons Funeral Home, Bells Funeral Home, and Brownsville Funeral Home being family-owned means something.
We fully understand that family is there for you on your best days and your worst. Family is important and will be there to bring care, comfort and encouragement no matter what life brings your way. We are family that is here to serve your family when you need it most.
Being a family-owned funeral home means:
In 1950, Fred Jones, owner of the Powell Funeral Home, consolidated with the Brownsville Funeral Home to create the business we know today. In 1962, Fred Jones and Rex Bond built the Bells Funeral Home in Bells, TN. Upon the retirement of Fred Jones, Rex Bond built a great tradition of taking care of families in Haywood and Crockett County. He trained many young men and women to teach them about the funeral industry. Three of those individuals were Jody Lea, Chris Lea and Elliott Simmons.
These young men had a dream of building a top-notch facility to meet the funeral needs of the next generation. In 2009, the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home was built on the By-Pass in Brownsville, TN. The state-of-the-art facility flourished during the first decade of operation.
In 2018, the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home purchased the Brownsville Funeral Home and the Bells Funeral Home and the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Also, in 2018, the West Tennessee Crematory was established to meet the ever-changing needs of the funeral industry.
The Lea & Simmons funeral group is locally owned and operated. We are committed to providing excellent care and service during your time of need.
