Mr. William Edward Davis, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at AHC Crestview in Brownsville, TN. Graveside Services to honor Mr. Davis will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 4:00 PM at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery in Knoxville, TN with Dr. Don Thompson, officiating.
Mr. Ed Davis was born on June 16, 1932, in Loudon, TN to Lloyd and Laura Mae Davis. He was a graduate of Loudon High School in Loudon, TN. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. He received his Master of Music Degree and his Master of Special Education Degree, both from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He was a gifted musician who loved the Lord and loved serving with people. He was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church in Bells, TN. Throughout the years he served as the Minister of Music at several Baptist Churches. He also served as the Minister to the Deaf at the First Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. For 22 years, he was the Superintendent of the Tennessee School for the Deaf.
He is survived by three sons, Ed Davis, Jr. of Bells, TN, Barry Davis of Knoxville, TN, George Davis of Knoxville, TN; one daughter, Julia Ann Davis of Sevierville, TN; one adopted son, Timothy Scott Davis of Knoxville, TN, and one sister, Pat Black of Sweetwater, TN. He leaves a legacy of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Geraldine Jackson Davis; his parents, Lloyd Leo Davis and Laura Mae Gregory Davis; one son, Greg Davis and one sister, Oletha Borden.
