for Mr. Tommy Gaters, Jr.

Tommy Gaters, Jr., age 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Haywood Community Hospital in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Brownsville Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Kirts and Rev. Susie Riley officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home. Burial will be forthcoming in the Gaters Family Cemetery.

Tommy was born on December 17, 1957, to Jerry Thomas Gaters, Sr. and Sue Pauline Groves Gaters in Brownsville, TN. Tommy was a lifetime farmer who loved his work, hunting and being outdoors. His greatest love was his family. Tommy cherished his son Hunter with all his heart. Tommy never met a stranger and will always be remembered for making people laugh. 

Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sherri Outlaw Gaters; one son, Hunter Gaters (Felicity) both of Bells, TN; his mother, Sue Gaters of Brownsville, TN, two brothers, Danny Gaters (Janet) of Brownsville, TN and Walter Gaters of Mercer, TN. He also leaves four nephews, Taylor Outlaw, Bradley Gaters, Russell Gaters and Justin Gaters, as well as one niece, Stacey Gaters. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gaters, Sr.

Pallbearers for the service are Taylor Outlaw, Bradley Gaters, Russell Gaters, Justin Gaters, Glen Arthur and Lynn Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers for the service are Keith Jackson, Raymond Gaters, John Taylor, Mike Taylor, Ken Taylor and Dallas Zamudio. 

The family has requested memorials be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Brownsville Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
