Thomas (Tommy) Edward Castellaw, Sr., a beloved member of the Brownville community, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the age of 88. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Brownsville Baptist Church in the multi-purpose room, beginning from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Brownsville Baptist Church is located at 5 N. Wilson Avenue in Brownsville, TN.
Tommy was born on the family farm to Zack and Frances (Mullen). He followed his dad in loving the land and farmed for many years. A gentle, quiet man, he loved the Lord, his family, church and many friends. After retirement, he enjoyed baseball, tractors, bluegrass, bluebirds, and traveling. He was a deacon for over 40 years at Brownsville Baptist Church, and was a member of the Tennessee Tractor Club.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Castellaw of Brownsville, TN; one daughter, Cathy Castellaw Pugh of Brownsville, TN; one son, Michael Lewis Castellaw of Nashville, TN; his special cousin, Jean Tritt Warf of Brownsville. He leaves a legacy of love for his three amazing grandchildren, Emily Taylor (Josh), Sarah Castellaw, and Thomas Ryan Pugh, along with two special great-grandchildren, Jackson Thomas Taylor and Josie Jane Taylor. His dog, Zuko, was his best buddy and held a special place in his heart during his senior years.
He joins in eternal rest his parents, Zach Thomas Castellaw and Frances Bryant Castellaw Mullen; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas (Tony) Edward Castellaw, Jr. and Kathy; his son-in-law, Thomas Anthony Pugh; one sister, Betty Castellaw Sims and brother-in-law, Jimmy Sims.
Honorary Pallbearers and Special Friends are John Gorman, Jr., Billy Thomas, Bobby Pigue, Dan Miller, John Simmons, Carl Moody Warren, Allen Watts, George Norvell, Bill Walker and Gary Hicks.
The family has requested memorials be made to any church of your choice, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, or the Brownsville/Haywood County Animal Shelter, c/o Sherry Batchelor, P.O. 449, Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
