Tommy was born on May 2, 1955, in Haywood County to Marvin and Maude Benard. He worked as a Lineman with Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corp., where he retired on September 29, 2017. He was one who loved life and was a jokester. He enjoyed watching wrestling, mowing his grass, buying scratch off tickets, riding around with Norvis, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his two daughters, Brandy Benard Dorris (Michael) and Crystal Erber (Geoff); three brothers, Norvis Benard, Steve Benard (Glenda), Dalton Benard; two sisters, Debra Johnson (Gaylon) and Jennifer Martin (David Ray); one sister-in-law, Donna Benard; nine grandchildren, Tyler Robertson (Olivia), Victoria Dorris, Aubree Dorris, Luke Dorris, Bristol Dorris, Xane Coatney, Miah Coatney, Micah Erber, Breckin Erber; one great-grandchild, Tatum Robertson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Will Benard and Maude Eva Benard; one son, Bradley Benard; one brother, Nolan Benard, and one sister, Katie Freels.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tyler Robertson, Mark Freels, Joey Benard, Mitchell Martin, Johnny Benard and Gordy Benard. Serving as an Honorary Pallbearer will be Luke Dorris.
Memorials in memory of Tommy Benard may be made to donor’s choice. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
