Tommy Baggett

Tommy Baggett, age 90, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his residence in Haywood County. Graveside Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Cemetery in Nutbush, TN, with burial to follow. Bro. Eddie Martin will be officiating the service. Tommy was born October 6, 1930 in Haywood County to Andrew Thomas Baggett and Rachel Evans Baggett. He was married to Ouida Hicks Baggett for 69 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and served his country in the National Guard. He enjoyed his family and also loved to hunt. He retired from the Haywood County Highway Dept. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jackie Baggett and Sammy Baggett; and two sisters, Billie Hicks and Sue Carolyn Gibbs and one grandchild, Christopher Alan Gaters. He is survived by his wife, Ouida Baggett; one son, Tommy Baggett (Elizabeth); one daughter, Brenda Cantrell (Ricky); one sister, Phyllis Baggett Hall; seven grandchildren, Joe Baggett (Cristy), Stephanie Baggett Lewis (Michael), Bailey Baggett Coulston (Blake), Lisa Gaters Heath (David), Andrea Gaters Manley (Frank), Charles Gaters and Calvin Gaters, and eight great-grandchildren, plus numerous nephews and nieces. Pallbearers for the service will be Holden Lewis, Landen Baggett, Christopher Heath, Taylor Heath, Charles Gaters and Calvin Gaters. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hunter Coulston, Blake Coulston, Joe Baggett, Michael Lewis, David Heath and Frank Manley. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. All arrangements and services are under the direction of Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
