Susan Hart Foster, 85, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Nancy Weddington in Brownsville, TN. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Oakwood Cemetery with her grandson-in-law, Mike Young, officiating.
Susan Allen Hart was born in Brownsville, TN to Lida Thomas Hart and Roger Marshall Hart on September 27, 1935. Being an only child, she was adored by her parents and by her “Papa” who introduced her to church at an early age. She followed him up and down the aisles of Brownsville Baptist Church where he was a deacon and took up the offering. She attended school in Brownsville graduating from Haywood High School after being crowned, Miss Brownsville. She attended Murray State University where she met the love of her life, Jerry Foster. They were married on October 8, 1955 and were married 58 years until his death in 2013.
Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Before her health failed, she could be found at all the many activities and sporting events of her grandchildren who lovingly called her Sue-Sue.
Susan was a member of Zion Baptist Church, and she loved and prayed for her friends even when she could not attend.
She is survived by her two daughters, Betsy Foster and Nancy Weddington (Will Allen); five grandchildren, Kelly Young (Mike), Will Weddington, Jr. (Catherine), Thomas Weddington (Chanel), Ryan Weddington, and Cameron Weddington (Audrey) and 7 great-grandchildren; Ainsley, Addison, Katie, and Caleb Young; Emery, Selah, and Brecken Weddington.
Nancy and Betsy would like to thank her wonderful sitters; Teresa Shaw, Barbara Adams and Betty Raynor who took such good care of her; the nurses and staff of AseraCare Hospice, and the staff of Sugar Creek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Baptist Church, 1733 Upper Zion Road, Brownsville, TN 38012. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
