B. Steven "Steve" Stoots, 58 passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010, at the St. Frances Hospital in Bartlett, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 16, 2010 in the Christ Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. A visitation for the Stoots family will be Sunday evening, August 15, 2010, 4 to 6 p.m. in the Christ Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bill and Martha Lou Stoots and his nephew, Lance Cozart. He leaves his wife of 32 years, Margie and his four children: Matt, Marty, Crutcher and Marshall (Stephanie), one grandson; Hayden Marshall Stoots and a sister; Mrs. Charles (Phyllis) Cozart.
Steve loved his family, his friends and Brownsville. He was gifted with wit, charm and maintained his strong commitment of loyalty and faithfulness to the ones he loved. He was a graduate of Haywood High School where he was Captain and All-American for his football team that went undefeated his senior year and was Number 1 in the state. During his senior year, he rushed for over 300 yards on 3 separate occasions. Steve attended Mississippi State University and was inducted into the Haywood County Sports Hall of Fame. He later was part of a local radio team with Dr. Robert Rooks called "Roots and Stoots" who commentated for the games of his beloved Tomcats.
