Sandra Nell Austin Goodman

Sandra Nell Austin Goodman, age 73, departed this life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the Hillville Community. Visitation for Mrs. Goodman will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. 

Sandra was born on May 13, 1951, in Haywood County, to Robert Austin and Etta Austin McDowell. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at NHC Healthcare in Fayette County for many years. She was one who loved helping others and she enjoyed providing health care to numerous people through the years. She will long be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Spending time on Catfish Lane at the Tennessee River brought her much enjoyment. She also enjoyed the Great Smokey Mountains and traveling to Yellowstone National Park. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by them. 

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Goodman of Whiteville, TN; one son, Bobby Goodman (Susan) of Brownsville, TN; two brothers, Ronnie Austin and Billy Austin; two sisters, Jesse Kirkland and Caron Shackelford (Johnny); four granddaughters, Chelsea Freels, Carrie Evans (Cliff), Anna Elrod (Dallas), Samantha Hasapis (Aaron); five great-grandchildren, Bryson Evans, Kelynn Evans, Gannon Elrod, Luke Elrod, Adyson Hasapis, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Goodman; her daughter, Tina Ilene Goodman; her parents, Robert Austin and Etta Austin McDowell; her in-laws, George and Pauline Goodman; her grandson, Wesley Goodman; one brother, Rickey Austin; and two sisters, Peggy Austin and Linda Cannon. 

Pallbearers for the service are Derrick Voyles, Jeff Pattat, Nick Youngberg, Billy Austin, Ricky Austin, and Will Austin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cliff Evans and Dallas Elrod. 

The family has requested memorials be made for supporting Breast Cancer awareness and research at www.komen.org. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.
