Samuel Willis Baggett, 75, passed away peacefully December 28, 2020 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Sam Baggett was born March 13, 1945 in Tibbs to Andrew Thomas Baggett and Rachel Evans Baggett of Brownsville, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Levada Ann Baggett, two sons, Travis (Katherine) and Galon (Angela), along with 4 grandchildren, Rachel (John), Harley (Riley), Drew, and Shelby, and two great-grandchildren, Kamryn Baggett and Cohen Vandergriff. He is also survived by one brother Tommy (Ouida) and one sister, Phyllis Hall, both of Brownsville, Tennessee.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Baggett, and two sisters, Billie Hicks and Sue Carolyn Gibbs.
Sam worked at Ford Construction for 37 years in Dyersburg, Tennessee, where he served as Vice President up until the time of his death. A well-respected leader at Ford, he was known across the state for his expertise in his industry. He was a longstanding member of the Tennessee Roadbuilders Association and served as a board member in 2002. He also retired after 22 years as an engineering supervisor with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Sam served in the Tennessee National Guard for 24 years before retiring as a master sergeant. He was an active member of the Christ Church in Brownsville, Tennessee.
Anyone that knew him knew he demanded truth, demanded respect, and rewarded those who felt the same. He will be remembered for his strong family values, work ethic, and service to God. Sam’s favorite past times were Sunday dinners with his family and extended family, Saturdays with his men working around the farm and golf with his family and numerous friends.
The family would like to express their thanks for the outpouring support, calls, and messages during this difficult time. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic a private service will be held for immediate family only at Trinity Cemetery in Nutbush, Tennessee.
