Ruth's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Taylor Thornton Harmon, age 82, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 in Haywood Park Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents: Nicholas Perkins Thornton and Pattie Laura Fletcher Thornton; her husband: Claude William Harmon; one daughter; Rebecca H. Parker; and two brothers: Guilford Thornton and Nicholas Perkins Thornton III. Mrs. Harmon was a lifelong member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Club and The Bradford Home Demonstration Club. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 26, 2009 in Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Dr. Joseph Thornton and Bro. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Harmon is survived by four daughters: Patricia H. Herron (Gaylon), Libby H. Kendrick (Jay), Ruthie H. Lewis, and Dede H. Kendrick (Kenny), all of Brownsville, TN; one brother: Robert Earl Thornton (Betsy), Brownsville, TN; three sisters: Sally Cavin, Nashville, TN, Pattie Marie Crafton, Memphis, TN, Ginger Hathcock, Brownsville, TN; eleven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 5-7 PM in the Brownsville Funeral Home Chapel and Saturday, December 26, 2009 from 2-3 PM in Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
