Russell's Obituary
Mr. Russell Edward McKnight age 90 of Gadsden passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Regional One in Memphis, TN.
Russell was born on May 30, 1926 to the late James Conners McKnight and wife, Lula Lowtine Hall. He was a Baptist in belief and a Veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. McKnight is survived by his wife, Gladys Dean Higgins McKnight; two sons, Russell Edward McKnight, Jr and wife, Lisa of Gadsden, Charles Benson McKnight and wife, Leigh Ann of Murfreesboro; three daughters, Rebecca Dianne McKee of Humboldt, Sheila Danet Carlton and husband, Bob of Gadsden and Cindi Denise Thompson and husband, Barry of Newburn; three sisters, Polly Gibson of Humboldt, Mattie Rodgers of Humboldt and Sandra Buzzard of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service with military honors to celebrate the life of Mr. Russell McKnight will be conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Gadsden with Bro. Gary Miller and Bro. Terry Graves officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fruitland. The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church in Gadsden on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be directed to the Crockett Christmas Store or NOAH to honor the life of Mr. McKnight.
