Ronelda Pat's Obituary Mrs. Ronelda (Pat) Hughes McCarter age 88, formerly of Haywood County, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Meadowbrooke Care Center in Van Alstyne, Texas. She was born June 16, 1930 in Crockett County to the late Ossie Hughes and Mamie Buckingham Hughes. Mrs. McCarter was a retired general manager of Jerry’s Oil Company. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Morris McCarter; daughter, Brenda Carolyn Fondren; brother, Norman Hughes; sister, Cleo Sommers. Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Haynes and husband Carl of Brownsville; son Ronnie McCarter and wife Sarabeth of Texas; two sisters, Bernice Overton of Bells and Bettye Russell and husband Tommy of North Carolina; sister in law, Emma Hughes of Memphis. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Ronnie Mullen and wife Ashley, Kristi Taylor and husband Jason, Kellie Floyd and husband Steven, Adam McCarter and wife Bethany, Laurie Evinger and husband Eric and Ashley Haynes as well as eleven great grandchildren. Graveside services for Mrs. McCarter will be conducted Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Bro. Eddie Mallonee officiating and burial to follow.
