Robert Hilton Jefferies, age 93, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2024, at his home in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Brownsville Funeral Home with Robert Jefferies, Jr. officiating. Burial to follow in the Historic Oakwood Cemetery of Brownsville, TN with Full Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Brownsville Funeral Home from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour at 1:00 P.M.
Mr. Robert was born on November 27, 1930, in Brownsville, TN, to the late Edwin Hilton Jefferies and Virginia Elizabeth Moore Jefferies. Robert grew up during the days of the Great Depression. When he was still in high school, he received the call to go serve his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1951-1953. After the service, he would move to Memphis, TN, and marry Shirley Waldron and have a daughter, Kim. At this time, he would also begin his career working for Memphis Canteen.
In 1977, Shirley would pass away from complications related to kidney disease. In 1981, he would marry Karen Whitehorn. Together they had 2 children, Robert and Amanda.
In 1992, Robert would retire from Memphis Canteen. He sat at home for one month before deciding to go back to work for Kroger. After 20 years, he would retire from a second job when he was 82 years old. Following retirement, Robert and Karen would move to Heber Springs, AR where they would enjoy spending time sight-seeing, visiting flea markets and working with the Heber Springs Church of Christ, where he was a faithful member.
He is survived by his wife: Karen Jefferies; one daughter: Kim Hocott (Tom) of Fairfield Bay, AR; one son: Robert Jefferies, Jr. (Blair) of Hernando, MS; He leaves six grandchildren: Jason Hocott (Kristan) of Greenbrier, AR, Olivia Franklin (Jacob) of Greenbrier, AR, Sarah Baker (Nate) of Clinton, AR, Aylin Jefferies, Hilton Jefferies and Weston Jefferies of Hernando, MS; and seven Great-grandchildren.
