Mr. Richard Lee Wellington, age 76, a resident of Brownsville, TN, left this world on March 25, 2025. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 12 Noon at Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Courtney Robinson officiating.

Richard was born in Haywood County on May 26, 1948, to Eddie Lewis Wellington and Mattie Peters Wellington. He graduated from Carver High School in Brownsville, TN. He worked at Teknor Apex in the maintenance department, and he also worked for the Haywood Middle School as long as his health allowed him to do so. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a devoted worker and one who loved his country. In his free time, he enjoyed working in the yard and making woodcrafts in his workshop. His fulfillment in this life was spending time with his grandchildren and his family. His gracious heart and kind spirit will be deeply missed by his friends and family. His memory will live on in their hearts forever.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Niketa Wellington of Brownsville, TN; one brother, Michael Wellington of Brownsville, TN; three sisters, Emma Jean Wellington of Brownsville, TN, Edna Mae Wellington of Baltimore, MD, and Evelyn Jean Currie of St. Louis, MO. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jalen, Justin, Jordan, Jasmine, Jayda, and Jayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Lewis Wellington and Mattie Emma Peters Wellington.

Serving as pallbearers are Jalen Wilson, Justin Wilson, Jordan Bell, Adrian Perkins, Samuel Murphy, and Calvin Wilson.

All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
