Richard Parks

September 21, 1940 — August 5, 2016

Mr. Richard "Dickie" Parks, age 75, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 at his home in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 3:00 P.M. in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. and Sunday, August 7, 2016, 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home. Mr. Parks was born and raised in Haywood County and lived here all his life. He was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church, a farmer, a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and avid Memphis State Tiger Fan. He retired after 40 years as a Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents: Richard E. "Dodie" and Will Allen Kendrick Parks. He is survived by his wife: Joe Ann Parks, Brownsville, TN, his children: Lori Parks (Jim) Brownsville, TN, Jill Parks Jordan (Brent) Alamo, TN, mother of Lori and Jill: Mary Alice Williams, Brownsville, TN, Tamera Pope, Brownsville, TN, Tony Canaday (Laura) Corinth, MS, nine grandchildren: Zack Christian, Erin Christian, Tucker Jordan, Brent Crawford, Austin Crawford, Kayla Crawford, Aaron Canaday, Bethany Canaday, Drew Canaday and one great-grandchild: Molly Canaday. Memorials are requested to: Holly Grove Baptist Church, 8488 Poplar Corner Rd., Bells, TN 38006.
