Quentine's Obituary
Mr. Quentine W. Boyd age 96, passed away at the TN State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
Quentine was born on December 14, 1919 in Fruitvale, TN to the late Oscar Boyd and wife, Tinnie Crossnoe Boyd. He was a member and Elder of Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church as well as a WWII Veteran of the United States Army.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Boals Boyd and a brother, James Boyd.
Mr. Boyd is survived by a son, Tim Boyd and wife, Vickie of Paris, TN; a daughter, Anna Webb and husband, Bill of Bells, TN; a brother, Fred Boyd and wife, Ruth of Fruitvale, TN. He is also survived by four Grandchildren, Meredith Boyd Leathers and husband, Rob, Madison Boyd, Melissa Webb Williams and husband, Brad and Daniel Webb and wife, Jodi and; one Great Grandchild, Caroline Elizabeth Webb.
Quentine proudly served his country as a member of the 11th Airborne Division, Glider Infantry Regiment. His tour of duty from 1942-1945 included time in New Guinea, the Philippines, and Japan. After his discharge from the army, he returned to work at his uncle’s business, J.O. Boyd General Merchandise in Fruitvale. In 1959 he obtained ownership of the business and operated it as Q.W. Boyd General Merchandise until he retired in 1996 at the age of 76.
Pallbearers serving will be Daniel Webb, Brad Williams, Tony Boyd, Tim Melton, Jody Emerson and Vince Emerson.
Funeral Services for Mr. Quentine W. Boyd will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Bells Funeral Home at 3:00 pm with Bro. Justin Moreland and Dr. John Farrar officiating. Burial will follow in the Cypress UMC Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at Bells Funeral Home on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 1:00 pm until service time.
