Nelda's Obituary Mrs. Nelda Jo Taylor Jernigan age 71 of Bells, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 in Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born October 1, 1945 in Bells to Mattie Lou Johnson Taylor and the late Joe E. Taylor. She graduated from U.T. Medical Unit College of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene School. Mrs. Jernigan was employed for thirty-two years for Dental Associates. She started working with just Dr. John Nelson and others were later added to the practice. Over her life she was chosen for such things as F.H.A. State Director, Most Dependable of Bells High School, President of the seventh district Dental Hygiene Society, State Director of the seventh district Dental Hygiene Society, Treasurer for seven years for the Tennessee Dental Hygienist Society, Most Outstand Jaycette of the Year, Board of Directors for Mountain TOP 2002, Finance Committee for Mountain TOP and Summer Staff for Mountain TOP. Mrs. Jernigan was a member of Bells First United Methodist Church and over the years held various positions mostly in Christian Outreach. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Jernigan of Bells; daughter, Cat Carter (Frankie) of Bells; son, Robert Jernigan of Bells; mother, Mattie Lou Johnson Taylor of Bells; sisters, Wanda Woosley of Nashville, Connie Hasson of Knoxville and Sue Ellen Emison of Bells. Serving as pallbearers are Ross Via, Joe Williams, Roy Taylor, Brandon Emison, Tommie Moorehead, and William Barger. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Bells First United Methodist Church with Ronnie Woods and the Pastor, Rev. Susie Riley officiating. Burial will follow in Belleview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials directed to the church or the charity of the donor’s choice in memory of Mrs. Jernigan.
