Nathan Edward Turner, Jr., 77, of Marianna, Arkansas, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 17, 2019 after a short illness.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00p.m., Monday, January 21 at Tabernacle Methodist Church in Brownsville, TN. Visitation will precede the service on Monday from 10:30 a.m. til 12:00p.m. Memorials may be made to the Tabernacle Campground Fund.
Ned was born April 10, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee to Martha Eppes and Ed Turner. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1959 and later Memphis State University. In college, Ned was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and started the band “The Settlers” with good friends. He went on to be a banker, home builder, and land developer in both Memphis and Germantown. Ned retired from the City of Memphis after overseeing many projects. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and musician. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. After retirement, he enjoyed his days on the waters of Bear Creek Lake enjoying its beauty and looking for the perfect fish.
He was a fantastic father, wonderful husband, and a friend to all. Ned is survived by his loving wife, Carol Turner (Drewry); three children, Loring Porter and her husband Ethan of Knoxville, TN, Nathan Turner and his wife Tricia (Jones) of Tulsa, OK, and Morgan Curlee and her husband Mike of Gallatin, TN; and nine grandchildren.
