Mrs. Nancy Dolfinger Henderson Burgin age 103 of Bells, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 in Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Nancy, daughter of the late Raymond Dolfinger and Carolyn Watts Dolfinger, was born on September 13, 1912 in Louisville, KY. She later moved to Bells and graduated from Bells High School and attended West Tennessee State Teachers College (University of Memphis).
In 1934, she married George L. Henderson, surviving him in 1949. In 1955, she married William G. Burgin and moved to Starkville, MS. After his death in 1970, she accepted a position at Auburn University in Auburn, AL as head resident where she remained until 1982 when she returned to Bells.
Nancy operated the Sports Shop, a ladies ready-to-wear shop, in Bells for fourteen years. She was a member of her beloved First Christian Church where she was an elder, sang in the choir and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Philip C. Henderson; great granddaughter, Alison Anton as well as two brothers, William Kolson and Robert Kolson.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Jerry Fitz-Randolph of Jackson, TN; son, Ray Henderson of Opelika, AL; granddaughters, Genevieve (Mike) Anton of Tustin, CA, Elizabeth (Joe) Taylor of Roswell, GA; grandsons, Ray (Rebecca) Henderson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Greg (Justine) Henderson of Clayton, NC, Philip Henderson of Indianapolis, IN, John Henderson of Green Castle, IN, Rod (Michelle) Fitz-Randolph of Tampa, FL, and Kurt (Dana) Fitz-Randolph of Stafford, VA; sisters, Emmy Joyner of Bells and Debbie (Bob) Patrick of Milan, TN.
Serving as pallbearers are Greg Henderson, Philip Henderson, John Henderson, Elizabeth Taylor, Rod Fitz-Randolph, Kurt Fitz-Randolph and Genevieve Anton.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Dolfinger Henderson Burgin, will be conducted Monday, July 18, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bells Funeral Home with Fr. Ray Henderson, Jr. and Bro. Randy Jetton officiating. Burial will follow in Belleview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Bells Assisted Living and Bells Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care Mrs. Burgin received over the years.
