Michael Joseph Barajas, Sr.

Michael Joseph Barajas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Brownsville Funeral Home, with Father Gerald Azike officiating. Burial to follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery of Trenton, TN. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Brownsville Funeral Home from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour at 2:00 P.M.

Mr. Barajas was born on February 6, 1948, in Memphis, TN to Jose Salvador Barajas and Virginia Mae Miles Barajas. Michael was a graduate of the Catholic High School of Memphis, TN and moved on to a long-accomplished career with USAirways (American Airlines) and Pinnacle Airlines until his retirement. Michael was a devoted Catholic and a member of the St. James Catholic Church of Memphis. Michael loved to travel and would take the family all over the world to experience different countries and cultures. He was also known as the life of the party and loved to spend time with friends and family. He also loved to investigate the family heritage and history and passing that knowledge down.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 47 years. Dianne Montgomery Barajas; one granddaughter Caroline Manchester and three great-granddaughters; Braelynn and Brynlee Laracouinte and Caraline Grace Moore. 

He is survived by one son: Michael Barajas II and his wife Tammie; two daughters: Marcelina Barajas Jones and her husband Stacy and Melinda Manchester and her husband Paul; one brother: David Mark Barajas and his wife Maria de Lourdes; two nieces Rachel Behnke and her husband Steven, Jessica Barajas, one great niece Annabelle Behnke, two aunts; Hazel and Barbara, one uncle; Sonny and his best friend Fred Cramer. He leaves a legacy of 10 grandchildren: Stephen Barajas, Korrinne Barajas, Brittany Nicole Rojas and her husband Cristobal, Jasmine Jones, Cody Fletcher, Ashly Polk, Alyssa Jones and her partner Jay, Jeremy Moore and his wife Paige, Timmy Boykin, Cole Manchester, Thomas Manchester and 8 great-grandchildren. Ricardo Rojas, Alora Jones, Nova Jones, Daxton Polk, August Polk, Penelope Sojos, Katlyn Roberson, Connor Roberson.

Serving as Pallbearers are Stacey Jones, Paul Manchester, Jeremy Moore, Timothy Boykin, Cole Manchester, Thomas Manchester. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Barajas and Cody Fletcher.
