Mary Virginia Moses, 81, died at her home in Brownsville, TN, on December 1, 2015. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:30 AM in the Stanton United Methodist Church, 117 Covington St., Stanton, TN with burial to follow in Stanton Cemetery. A visitation for the Moses family will begin at 10 AM and go until service time at 11:30 AM at the church. She was born in Stanton, TN on January 27, 1934, and married John Ware (Buddy) Moses, III, on January 27, 1950. They raised their family in Stanton and Brownsville, and later lived in Indianola, MS and Memphis, TN before returning to Brownsville. From her childhood roots in the United Methodist Church, Mary Virginia was active throughout her life in local churches and lay ministries. She was known for her love and devotion to her family, and in recent years relished visits from her great-grandchildren. Mary Virginia also treasured her friendships, and made friends of all ages wherever she went. She was an avid painter and loved gardening, and her home was a place of beauty and hospitality to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother Grace Archbell Taylor, father Edmond Taylor, and sister Betty Kate Walker. She is survived by her husband: John Ware Moses, III; three sons: John Ware (Jack) Moses, IV, wife: Ree Moses, of Oxford, MS; Edmond (Chick) Taylor Moses, wife: Daphne Moses, of Jackson, TN; Robert (Bob) Archbell Moses, wife: Marie Moses, of Pittsboro, NC; her grandchildren: Sarah Moses, husband: Will Schenck, of Oxford, MS; John Moses, wife: Dena Moses, of Charleston, SC; Dan Moses, wife: Amy Moses, of Southaven, MS; Nancy Leigh Hughes, of Jackson, TN; Taylor and Lynsie Hughes, of Jackson, TN; Jo Catherine and Jay Moss, of Raleigh, NC; Jaclyn and Joel Parker, of Apex, NC; and her great-grandchildren: William and Elizabeth; Maria and Renna; Evalee and Vera; Hazel; Morgan and Caitlin; and Cannon, Isaac, and Oliver.
