Marvin's Obituary On July 22, 2017, at his home in Mercer, TN, Marvin Larry Sipes, Sr. left this world for the arms of Jesus at the age of 74. He is predeceased by his parents, William Marvin Sipes and Louise Thompson Sipes; sisters Mary Ann Morris and Marvine Sipes Crowley; daughter Teresa Staten and grandson Jefferey Bennett. Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Florene of the home; a son, Marvin Larry Sipes, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Mercer, TN; daughter Naomi Bennett and her husband, Shaun, of Dickson, TN; daughter Karen Green and her husband, Dave, of Malden, MO; and a sister, Martha Ruth Clifft and her husband, Miles, of Bolivar, TN. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Trae Ferrell of Benton, MO; Tracy Staten of San Antonio, TX; Allen Lewis of Burns, TN; Cory Bennett and his wife, Kristen, of McEwen, TN; Terra Justice and her husband, Tim, of Dickson, TN; Gary Bennett of Dickson, TN; Samantha Green of Jefferson City, MO; and Darren Green of Columbia, MO. Larry’s legacy includes his great grandchildren Taylor Ferrell, Allison Ferrell, and Thomas Ferrell of Benton, MO; Noah Bennett and Peyton Machell Bennett of Waverly, TN; and Tristan Justice, Tegan Justice, and Tinsley Justice of Dickson, TN. He will live on in the memories of his beloved nieces and nephews David Morris, Leeann Grantham, and Ginger Evans of Bolivar, TN, and Michael Clifft of Houston, TX, as well as their families. Born February 25, 1943, in Steele, MO, his family later moved to Tennessee where he lived and made many friends and memories, graduating from Bolivar High School in 1961. He married Florene Overton in Iuka, Mississippi on March 26, 1972. Larry made a career working in the field of insurance for 32 years. In 1992 he retired from Reliable Life Insurance Company of St. Louis, MO, as District Manager of Northeast Arkansas. From early in life he was interested in cars. Larry enjoyed working on vehicles, frequently buying and selling many cars and trucks, but his favorite thing to do was drive. A Memorial Service was held at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Medon, TN, at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, officiated by Joe McIntire and Ricky Watkins. At a later date the family will gather at Rock Church Cemetery in Dickson, TN, for a final farewell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Maple Springs Baptist Church.
