Maggie 'Mae''s Obituary Maggie 'Mae' Mathias, age 87, of Brownsville, TN, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Crestview Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Brownsville. She was a member of Westside Church of Christ, reigning 2015 Valentine Queen of Crestview, and loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Buford (Becky) Mathias of Brownsville; her daughter, Betty (Wally) DeLaney of Bells; two brothers, Johnny (Mary) Jernigan and Larry (Beverly) Jernigan, both of Memphis; her sister, Frances Coker of Smithville, MS; eleven grandchildren, Joanne Smith, Michael (Teresa) Mathias, Susan (Bobby) Goodman, Joe (Mary) DeLaney, Wendy (Michael) Taylor, Jason (Melody) DeLaney, Gene (Crissy) DeLaney, Jamie (Brittany) Mathias, Ashley (Alfredo) Agurrie, Jennifer (Chad) Dinkins, and Justin Mathias; twenty-three great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren, a special friend and daughter-in-law, Carol Mathias of Bells; and a special friend, Paul Mize, Jr. of Stanton. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2015, at Brownsville-Bells Funeral Homes in Brownsville, TN. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM , Saturday, April 4, 2015, in the Chapel of the Brownsville-Bells Funeral Homes officiated by Bro. Larry Sweeney with interment to follow in Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Mathias, Joe DeLaney, Jason DeLaney, Gene DeLaney, Jamie Mathias, and Paul Mize, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hester, Don Williams, Donnie Jernigan, Milton Booth, Terry Brown, Jack Fletcher, Eddie Moss, and Justin Mathias. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hugh and Edna Mae Blackburn Jernigan; her husband, Lester Mathias, Jr.; her son, Melvin Mathias; two brothers, Sammy Jernigan and Neal Jernigan; and three sisters, Maxine McWharter, Nancy Lane, and Nina Bouchard. The family requests that memorials be made to Westside Church of Christ, 3235 Hwy 54, Brownsville, TN 38012.
