Lyde Hamilton

Lyde Davis Johnson Hamilton went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 20, 2016, at the age of 97. She was born in Brownsville, TN, on October 3, 1918. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Currie Johnson and Callie Taylor Johnson, and her beloved husband of 59 years, J.C. Hamilton. She is survived by two daughters Dianne Hamilton Pfund and Linda Hamilton Butler (Ted), three grandchildren William L. Thompson IV, James Hamilton Thompson (Stacy) and Leigh Taylor Manasco, and one brother Jerry Johnson of Florida. Time spent in prayer and Bible study shaped Lyde's entire life. Her sweet and gentle spirit made her an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was adored by all who knew her. At 90, she was still doing aerobics and walking at the Y. As a seamstress, her beautiful handwork and smocking were treasured by any who received them. "Miss Lyde's" family rejoices in her beautiful long life and now in her going home to be with the Lord. Visitation will be at First Methodist Church, Brownsville, TN, on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 1pm with a short service at 2pm. Burial will be in July at Tabernacle during Camp Meeting.
