Lucille Steele Hight, age 90, entered the presence of her Lord on October 26, 2017 at Jackson General Hospital. Visitation will be held at Lea and Simmons on October 28, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
Funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on October 29, 2017 at 2:30 PM with Dr. Jerry Drace, Rev. Ron Davidson and Rev. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Lea and Simmons Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Lucille was born on October 9, 1927, and raised in the Holly Grove community. She graduated from Haywood High School in 1945. She retired from Brownsville Bank after many years of faithful service.
Lucille was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Romus who went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2016, her parents, George William and Irma Williamson Steele, three brothers: Tommy Steele, Charles Steele, Marvin Earl Steele and a sister: Winnie Mae Outlaw.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky Drace and husband, Jerry, reside in Jackson, her daughter, Judy Carlton and husband, John, reside in Brownsville. She was the grandmother to Drew Drace (Lisa), Becca Drace (Josh), Thomas Carlton (Kristin), and Jessica Warren (John). She had eight great grandchildren: Elora Kate and Saydie Mae Carlton, Duke Warren, Noah, Isa, Nick, Levi and Hannah Drace.
Lucille and Romus had celebrated seventy years of marriage. Together they visited all fifty states, and toured Europe and the Middle East.
Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
