From 1977 onwards, his main practice was held in Jackson. Later in his career, he worked in geriatric care with the group he founded, Superior Life Care Services. The group of psychologists, psychiatrist and social workers provided mental health and social support to nursing home patients in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama.
Lorne was devoted to the church and church community, from the days of being a preachers kid until his death. In Jackson, Lorne was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and served on the vestry as well as the grounds committee. Using his woodworking skills, he contributed to the church, development of downtown Jackson and Memphis, and restored several homes.
