Linda L. Kerr departed this life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at her residence in Jackson, TN, at the age of 79. Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 1:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN with Rev. Betty Merriwether officiating. Burial to follow at Brownsville Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home on Friday, May 26, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM and continuing until the time of the service at 1:00 PM.
Linda was born on August 16, 1943, in Memphis, TN. She worked for many years as a Dental Hygienist, having graduated from UT Memphis, Class of 1963. Linda attended the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt, Tennessee. She co-taught the five and six-year-old Sunday School Class, and she helped with communion services.
Some of Linda’s favorite things include the beach, her favorite being Perdido Key in Florida; dogs, she has owned several over her life, and her most recent adopted furry friends were Little Dude, Reecee, and Mia; reading, Linda participated in several book exchange programs; just about any kind of chocolate; playing bridge; and spending time with family and friends. College sports were high on her list of favorite things, with her favorite teams being Kentucky basketball and both Tennessee and Ole Miss football. Linda was an annual supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Disease Research, in memory of her husband David, the American Cancer Society, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation to support breast cancer awareness, in memory of her sister Nancy.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Lindsey Goodrich of Camden, TN; her son, Howard Neal Lindsey (Missy) of Sugar Tree, TN; her stepdaughters, Beverly Carrier of Germantown, TN, Judy Kerr (Bill) of Iuka, MS, and Roanne Kerr of Germantown, TN; one stepson, David Bruce Kerr, Jr. of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Garrett Lindsey (Emily) and Saxton Dearmin; great-grandchildren, Sadie Grace Lindsey and Harper Kate Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by husband, David Bruce Kerr; father, Clarence Brewer; mother, Dorothy Davidson; stepfather, Howard Davidson; sister, Nancy Evans and brother-in-law, Thad Evans; son-in-law, John Goodrich, and stepson-in-law, Tom Carrier.
Pallbearers for the service are Garrett Lindsey, Saxton Dearmin, Sid Bowman and Bruce Kerr.
