Leland's Obituary
Mr. Leland Earl Simpson age 95 of Bells, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at his residence.
He was born March 9, 1922 in Haywood County to the late Roy Earl Simpson and Zelma Williams Simpson. Mr. Simpson was a retired farmer and carpenter and member of Holly Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ottie Louise Herbert Simpson; two brothers, J. B. Simpson and Roy Junior Simpson and two sisters, Maybelle Duffey and Emma Lee Stewart.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hopper and husband Ricky of Bells; two sisters, Dorothy McCommon of Jackson and Joann Castellaw and husband Billy of Brownsville. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Timothy Hopper and wife Rachel, Rebekah Newman and husband Tyler, Jay Hopper and wife Bekah, Katie Campbell and husband J.T. and Donna Kelly and husband Tim as well as eight great grandchildren, Makayla, Ella, Ava, Jacob, Olivia, Sophia and McKenzie Lucas and wife Cory.
Serving as pallbearers are Timothy Hopper, Jay Hopper, J.T. Campbell, Tyler Newman, Alan Jones and Lucas Kelly. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Brown, Danny Simpson, Milton Booth, Regie Castellaw and Brad Williams.
Funeral services for Mr. Simpson will be conducted Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Brownsville Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Campbell and Bro. Timothy Hopper officiating. Entombment will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The Simpson family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
