Mr. Laurie Wynston Duncan, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 2 at his home in Stanton, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 3 PM at the Dancyville Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in the Dancyville Assembly of God Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening, July 5, 2019, 5 PM to 7 PM at Lea & Simmons Funeral in Brownsville, TN.
Mr. Duncan served his country in the United States Navy and was a truck driver for 45 years before his retirement. After retirement, he had a passion for fireworks and sold them for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Virgil Duncan and Mary Lou Carvin Mayo. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Dorothy Bryant Duncan, Stanton, TN, four daughters, Gaylene Duncan (Ricky) of Bells, TN, Barbara Gibson (Raymond) of Bells, TN, Beverly Stevens (Bryon) of Brownsville, TN and Jerri Ann Duncan of Stanton, TN, two sisters, Barbara Shaw (Leroy), of Sylacauga, AL, Janice French of Richland, GA, four grandchildren, Kelcy Blackwell, Laurie Gibson, J.P. Overton and Michael Blackwell. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and 11 grandpuppies. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Midsouth Chapter, 713 South Mendenhall Rd., Memphis, TN 38117 or the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, 6896 US Highway 70, Memphis, TN 38133.
