Larry's Obituary Brownsville, TN – Mr. Larry Owen Thetford, age 68 of Brownsville, TN passed away on Thursday, January 07, 2016, at The Highlands Health and Rehab located in Dyersburg, TN. He was born on October 13, 1947 in Union City, TN, to the late James Hollace Thetford and Betty Wells Thetford. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Brownsville Baptist Church. Mr. Thetford was also a member of the Brownsville Moose Lodge and worked as a forklift operator for Haywood Company. He was a proud Democrat and was very active in his civic duties. He loved reading books. Books of all types filled his home. Keeping in touch with his family and researching family history was most important to Larry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Iris Stewart Rogers Thetford and one brother, John Thetford. Survivors are his daughter: Doey Wood and husband Gary of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; his beloved friend: Bonnie Wilson of Brownsville, TN; a sister in law: Virginia Thetford Standford of Union City, TN; two grandchildren: Hayden Collins of Denver, CO and Amy Carper and husband Brandon of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; one niece: Kristy Prince and one nephew: Jamie Thetford. He leaves a legacy of two great-grandchildren: Ben Collins and Quinn Carper, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The Thetford family would like to express a special thanks to the Brownsville Baptist Church family for assisting with the care and transportation of Larry during his illness. A Memorial Service for Mr. Thetford will be conducted on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM in the Brownsville Baptist Church with Bro. Bob Connerley officiating. A private burial will be held at Brownsville Memorial Gardens. The Thetford family will receive friends at Brownsville Baptist Church from 12:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM.
