Joseph Edward Greer, age 53, affectionately known as Eddie, was born on December 14, 1971, in Jackson, Tennessee. He peacefully departed this life on March 29, 2025, at the Alamo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Friends and family will gather to honor Eddie's life with a visitation on April 5, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Brownsville Funeral Home, located at 107 S Lafayette Ave, Brownsville, TN. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:30 PM, also at the Brownsville Funeral Home. Eddie will then be laid to rest in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens following the service.
Eddie was a proud graduate of Haywood High School, where he developed a lasting passion for the Tomcats, remaining one of their most devoted fans throughout his life. His big heart was evident to all who knew him, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a prayer for those in need. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and Brownsville Baptist Church where he found great joy in being an active participant of both fellowships. Eddie loved everyone unconditionally, embodying a spirit that was truly larger than life. He loved Haywood County and kept up with all things happening in Brownsville and the surrounding areas.
He was also a dedicated supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers, finding joy in cheering them on alongside family and friends. Eddie’s proudest accomplishment was caring for his parents, Joseph Michael and Patricia Ann Barden Greer, who have preceded him in death.
Eddie leaves behind two brothers, John Michael Greer, Sr. of New York, NY, and Jason William Greer (Ashley) of Gering, NE, as well as three cherished nephews, John Michael Greer, Jr., Maximilian Bane Greer, and Joseph Charles Lewis. He also had two aunts, Lena Ackerman (Jim) and Shirley Riddle, and many cousins who will remember him fondly.
Eddie's warm spirit, unwavering kindness, and steadfast loyalty will be deeply missed by all. His memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home. The family has requested memorials be made to the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
