John A. Hosick, age 76, passed away on April 7, 2023, at his home in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family. John was born June 12, 1946, in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Frank and Genevieve (Duda) Hosick. He was the eldest of five children and a 1964 graduate of Sharpsville High School. He met the love of his life and future wife, Elaine, during his time in Sharpsville. John and Elaine spent sixty years together. He was a lifelong Catholic, served as an altar boy throughout his youth and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
John worked for Westinghouse Electric and ABB for nearly forty-six years in both Sharon, Pennsylvania and Alamo, Tennessee. He was an avid fisherman, fan of the Jackson Generals, and a friend to anyone he met. John and Elaine were frequent travelers, both having a special fondness for cruises. They have traveled throughout the Caribbean, Europe, the continental United States, as well as Hawaii and Alaska. They loved their family vacations at the beaches of Florida and Alabama.
John is survived by his loving wife Elaine and two children, Chris (Beth) Hosick of Lexington, TN; Cara Hickerson of Jackson, TN. He was preceded in death by his son Cory in 2022. He is also survived by eight grandchildren (Abigail and Rylee Hosick and Tyler (Alexis) Blackstock and Jacob Blackstock; Hayden, Carsen, and Spencer Hickerson; and Greenlee Hosick) and two great-grandchildren. John is also survived by two sisters, MaryJean (Tom) Scott and Barbara (Gary) Spiegel. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Leonard Hosick and Francis Hosick.
The family would like to give special thanks to his precious caregivers Connie, Daelyn, Diamond, and Sylvia and all of those who assisted with his care from Home Instead and Gentiva Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to St. Mary’s School’s Tuition Angel Relief Fund or St. Jude.
A memorial service for Mr. John and Cory will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 10:00 am-12:00pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 1665 US 45 By-pass, Jackson, TN 38305.
