John Peticolas Gorman, Sr. went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on June 15, 2010, while at his home in Brownsville, Tennessee surrounded by his wife and children. Mr. Gorman was born on May 9, 1926 in Memphis, Tennessee. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Emma Jane, 5 children: John P. Gorman, Jr. (Myrna), Margaret Mahoney (Pat), Jane Dear (Steven), Clyde Gorman (Mary Anne) and Robert Gorman (Carlton), 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gorman was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army for 2 years in Germany. He was a faithful member of Brownsville Baptist Church for 45 years and an active member of Gideons International. He loved his lord Jesus, was a faithful witness and lived a life that emulated Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Evangelism, family and giving were his passions, and he took every opportunity to share Jesus Christ and meet the physical needs of those around him.
Funeral Services for Mr. Gorman will be conducted Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. in the Brownsville Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation for the Gorman family will be Friday, June 18, 2010 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Brownsville Baptist Church.
