Jimmy Joe Goodman

Jimmy Joe Goodman, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 7, 2024, at his home in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Bro. David Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at Noon.

Mr. Jimmy was born in Whiteville, TN, on October 27, 1945, to the late Monroe Goodman and Gracie Marie Watson Goodman. He worked in construction and asphalt work, was a dozer operator and farm worker for most of his life. He was light on his feet and loved to dance! He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all, loving his family. Also preceding him in death was his wife of over 25 years: Nancy Faye Baynes Goodman; one son: J.J. Goodman; one sister: Betty Lax; and one nephew: Claiborne Baynes.

He is survived by two daughters: Mary Gracie Goodman (Carla) of Brownsville, TN, Shelley Goodman (Leroy) of Hickory Valley, TN; one son: Phil Goodman (Kim) of Bolivar, TN; two sisters: Erma Evans (Jerry) of Whiteville, TN, Anita Franklin of St. Louis, Mo; one granddaughter: Haley Campbell of Whiteville, TN; one niece: Morgan Barnhill (Will) of Friendship, TN; and he leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers for the service are Monroe Allen, Ethan Baynes, Hayden Baynes, Cliff Evans, Chris Osteen, and Bradley Ford.  Honorary Pallbearers are Tim Allen and Phillip Sweat.

All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
