Jewell Overton

Jewell's Obituary Mrs. Helen Jewell Overton age 92, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born April 15, 1924 in Itawamba County, Mississippi to the late Adelbert Ames Gregory and Edna Ethel Buskirk Gregory. Mrs. Overton retired from Wells Lamont and was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Overton; son, Robert W. Overton, Jr.; grandson, Jason Overton; four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include son, James Gregory and wife Carolyn of Oakland; two daughters, Bonnie Patterson and husband Terry of Bells and Patty Byrd of Arlington, Son, Albert Overton and wife Lisa of Murfreesboro; sister, Mildred Stanley of Kentucky; and daughter-in-law, Melinda Overton of Lexington. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Gary Patterson, Nathan Patterson, Chris Mullen, Michael Patterson, Kent Byrd and Graham Overton Funeral services for Mrs. Jewell Overton will be conducted Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Fred Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. The Overton family will receive friends at the Brownsville Funeral Home on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
