Rev. Jerry's Obituary Rev. Jerry L. Wilson age 75 of Brownsville, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 18, 1941 in the Stogum Bottom Community Haywood County. Rev. Wilson graduated from Haywood County High School in 1959, Lambuth College in 1976, received his Master of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary in 1981 and a 1991 graduate of the Memphis Leadership class. He was a Veteran of Both the United States Army and the Tennessee Army National Guard. Rev. Wilson was a minister for the United Methodist Church for over forty years serving the Silterton Circuit, Ripley Circuit, Associate Pastor of Mullins United Methodist Church, Sr. Pastor of Galloway United Methodist Church, Whiteville United Methodist Church and Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. During his years of ministry, he has been presented with several awards from the Methodist Conference including Outstanding Evangelism. He began working for Brownsville Radio and the Brownsville States Graphic in the 1960’s and most recently the Brownsville Press. Over the years he has served as Chaplain for the Tennessee State Legislature, Chaplain for the Midsouth Fair and Rodeo, was a funeral assistant at Memphis Funeral Home, Poplar Chapel, special advocate for the Juvenile Court System and involved with Habitat for Humanity as well as many other religious and charitable organizations. Rev. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Wilson; mother, Mattie Wilson Rodgers; brother, Willie “Bogan” Wilson; sister, Evelyn Rose Buckner as well as a grandson, Collynn Timbes Kleber. Survivors include his daughter, Leigh Wilson Kleber and husband Chuck of Brownsville; brother, Finis Wilson of Brownsville and special friend and brother in law, Walter Tommy Baird. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Aaron Carl (Chrissy), Lauren Quick (Jonathan), Lexy Hill (Blake), Chase Kleber (Emily) Addison Kleber, Chandler Kleber and Canaan Kleber and three great grandchildren, Leighton Hill, Savanah Hill and Bailey Hill. Graveside services for Rev. Jerry L. Wilson will be conducted Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Grover Westover, Rev. Neal Escue and Rev. Robert Whitley officiating and burial to follow. The Wilson family will receive friends at the Brownsville Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Brownsville Funeral Home, 107 S.
