Jerry Neal McGarity

Jerry Neal McGarity, age 71, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. All services are under the direction of the Bells Funeral Home.

Mr. Jerry was born in Alamo, TN on April 13, 1953, to the late Thomas Void McGarity and the late Mary Elva Smith McGarity. He was a lifelong trade carpenter, having worked for Forsythe Construction for over 30 years. Mr. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest joy was playing softball and playing at the Friendship Ball Field. He was also preceded in death by one brother: Richard McGarity; five sisters: Betty McGarity, Mary Jo Leath, Deloris Leath, Robbie Piercey and Ann Butler.

Mr. Jerry is survived by his wife of over 51 years: Gloria Dawn Sorrell McGarity of Alamo, TN; one son: Anthony McGarity of IN; three daughters: Shelly Monroe (Robert) of Milan, TN, Tiffanie Medlin (Michael) of Johnson Grove, TN, Crystal Hill of Medina, TN; one brother: Ray McGarity (Barbara) of Friendship, TN; two sisters: Neda McGarity and Dean Simpson both of Alamo, TN; He leaves a legacy of four grandchildren: Luke and Savannah Monroe and EmmaLynn and Jase Medlin.

The McGarity Family are honoring his wishes for cremation and further information will be announced as it becomes available by the Bells Funeral Home.
