Jerry Douglas Ward

Mr. Jerry Douglas Ward, age 69, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at his home in Brownsville, TN. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. in the Brownsville Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Brownsville Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be Thursday, June 28, 2018, from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. in the Brownsville Baptist Church.

Jerry was born on March 9, 1949 in Brownsville, TN to Maynard Douglas and Jean Doris Hall Ward who preceded him in death. He graduated from Haywood High School in 1968, where he loved his classmates dearly and continually shared the memories he made with them over the years. He served in the United States Army and owned and operated Ward Construction Company for 50 years. Jerry was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church. He had an extraordinary God-given gift for leaving an incredible mark and light on everyone he met. His friends loved him dearly. Jerry was dependable, generous, and always willing to help and care for others before himself. He was loyal, kind, encouraging, and had a fine sense of humor, often times leaving hidden surprises and treats for his grandchildren. He was truly a great man.

Jerry was at home most in the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing, and spending quality time with his family and friends in the outdoors. Jerry centered his life on family, and he and Kathy shared a lifetime of great memories and moments taking in everything life had to offer. Their marriage was a beautiful example of true love grounded in faith. He loved Kathy relentlessly, and his light and love will continue to shine.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Beck Ward of Brownsville, TN; one son, Tyler Ward (Alaina) of Memphis, TN, and one daughter, Leigh Ward Reeves (Todd) of Jackson, MS; two brothers and three sisters: Bobby Lee Ward (Reba) and David Beck (Ilean), both of Brownsville, TN, Barbara Jean Littlejohn (Lewis) of Costa Mesa, CA, Susan Hayes (Randy) of Lafayette, GA, and Carol Sills (Tim) of Brownsville, TN; and four grandchildren: Turner Reeves, Gaines Reeves, Eleanor Ward and Ty Ward.
