Janie's Obituary
Janie M. Williams Williams was born in Crockett County, Tennessee, on April 30, 1936, the daughter of Daniel N. Williams and Maurine H. Williams. She departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Janie attended Bells High Scholl and graduated in the Class of 1954. She loved her classmates dearly and was the driving force behind their annual class reunion. She attended Union University and was initiated into the Beta Omega Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha in 1955. She was a loyal supporter of Union University and served as a volunteer. "Ms. Janie" as she was affectionately called, accepted Christ when she was 11 years old and baptized into the membership of First Baptist Church, Bells, where she was a member all her life. She was a member of the sanctuary choir for 65 years. She served the churchin many roles, including Women's Missionary Union President, Sunday School teacher, and served on many committees. She also served as Women's Missionary Union Coordinator for Crockett County Association of Baptists and treasurer for the Association. She was a retiree of the State of Tennessee, having served 34 years at the Department of Human Services. After retirement she worked for the Crockett County Juvenile Court, the Humboldt Housing Authority, and the City of Bells. She was a member of the Public Welfare Association and the Tennessee State Employees Association. She served as the first Vice President of the Inaugural chapter of the Gibson/Crockett STEA. Mrs. Williams and her husband , Jerry, were also charter members of the Tennessee High School Rodeo Association, where she served as their first treasurer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Carter Williams, a son, Russell Carter Williams, an infant grandson, Joshua Needham, and a beloved daughter-in-law, Susan Ann jones Williams. "Ms. Janie" is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ly nn Williams Needham, (J.L.) of Dyer, TN, five grandchildren: Jason Needham, (Laurie) and Jenny Bryant, (Derek), of Dyer, TN, Joey Williams, (Kelly) of Bells, TN, Brandi Bradley, (C.D.), Atlanta, GA, and Casey Williams, Franklin, TN; nine great-grandchildren: Walker and Bryer Williams, Will and Sam Bradley, Hailey, Hunter and Ava Jane Bryant, (A.J.), James Bryant, Addisyn Needham, Destiny Bryant and Taylor Dunlap. Two brothers: Dan H. Williams, (Carrie), Alamo, TN and Dr. Gary Williams, (Dale), of Jackson, TN. Special nieces and nephews: Felecia Pearson, (Ricky) and Caitlyn, Brian Williams (Deceased), Paige Bledsoe, (Brent), Scott and Berkley. Two very special friends: Bess Craig Cox and Nell Davis Stephens "Ms. Janie" was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Visitation for Mrs. Williams will be on Monday, August 12, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. At the Brownsville-Bells Funeral Homes Chapel, Bells, TN. Memorial services will be a First Baptist Church, Bells, TN on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. With visitation at the church from 12:00 noon until service time at 1:00 P.M.
