James' Obituary
Mr. James Walter Weatherford age 97 of Decaturville, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at his residence.
He was born January 15, 1921 in Decatur County to the late James Berry Weatherford and Sarah Elizabeth Horton Weatherford. He worked for the Ohio River Company and retired as Chief Engineer. He was a life-time member of Mt. Tabor Church where he served faithfully in many capacities: Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Cemetery Association, Elder and Deacon. He also enjoyed working with the Prison Ministry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Theodore Weatherford and Horton Weatherford, two sisters: Hettie Grimsley, and Eula Mae Weatherford. Also predeceasing him were his grandson, Kevin Neal Weatherford, and great granddaughter, Lauren Denise Livingston. Three siblings survive him: Clara Parrish of Parsons, Charles (Frankie) Weatherford and Betty (Joe) Fleming of Decaturville.
He leaves behind his wife of 76 years, Colleen Stephens Weatherford and six children: Beverly Carol and husband William Henry Boyd of Parsons; Donna Elizabeth and husband Frank Benjamin Kennedy, Jr. of Panama City Beach Florida; Stephen Berry Weatherford and wife JoNell of Lexington; David Neal Weatherford and wife Donna of Lexington; Danny Lee Weatherford and wife Teresa of Parsons; Chris Alan Weatherford and wife Ruth of Olive Branch Mississippi. He has fifteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Weatherford will be Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Church. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The Weatherford family will receive friends at Mt. Tabor Church sanctuary on Thursday, February 8 from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
