James' Obituary Mr. James Alvis Sullivan age 90 of Brownsville, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Crestview Healthcare and Rehabilitation. He was born June 25, 1927 in Haywood County to the late Cal Sullivan and Pearl Belch Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church, U.S. Navy Veteran, served on the Brownsville Police Department, was Haywood County Chief Deputy for many years and additionally was proudly Sheriff of Haywood County as well. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Laura Griffin; two brothers and a sister, William (Bo) Sullivan, Billy Carl Sullivan and Margaret Shoffner. Survivors include his wife Christine Barcoft Sullivan of Brownsville; two sons, Jimmy Sullivan and wife Cheryl of Nutbush and Perry Griffin of Nashville; three daughters, Cynthia Neal of Bolivar, Betsy Waddell and husband Sonny and Leslie Littles and husband Matthew all of Brownsville; brother, Bobby Sullivan of Missouri; three sisters, Ruth Davis of Brownsville, Dorothy Leathers and Shirley Wallace both of Jackson. Other survivors include nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Sullivan will be conducted Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Robison officiating. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from Noon until the service hour.
