James (Jim) Powell

James “Jim” Powell, age 74, departed this life on September 16, 2024, in Memphis, TN. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home with Bro. Lonnie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Brownsville, TN. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home.

Jim was born on October 15, 1949, to Walter Howard Powell and Jane Norton Powell in Haywood County. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved the sports of golf and baseball. One of his greatest joys through the years was collecting baseball cards. This allowed him to meet many amazing sports figures through the years. 

 He is survived by one son, James Curtis Powell of Carmine, TX; two brothers, Ray Powell of Brownsville, TN and Chuck Powell (Lisa) of Spring Hill, TN. He also leaves one grandson, Nichali Walter Powell. Jim was preceded in death by his wives Lydia Powell and Alice Powell; and his parents, Walter Howard and Jane Powell.

Pallbearers for the service will be Gary Odell Curtis, Austin Griffin, Keith Zaleski, Jerry Curtis, Shawn Griffin and Larry Stanley. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Morton and David Livingston. 

All arrangements and services are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
