Jack F. Wallace Funeral services for Jack F. Wallace, 82, will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Lea and Simmons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. Jack went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 12, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was born in Moulton, Alabama on November 11, 1927 the son of the late Thomas F. Wallace and the late Mildred Sivley Wallace. Jack was proceeded in death by his brother, Ray F. Wallace, and granddaughter Hayden Marie Wallace. Mr. Wallace graduated from Tech High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and later joined the U.S. Coast Guard serving in World War II. After his service in the Coast Guard he attended Memphis State University and was on the track, baseball, and golf teams. He retired from the Memphis Police Department in 1975 after 24 years of service where he served as Deputy Police Chief. Jack had an outstanding career with the Police Department, twice named as one of the Top Ten Police officers in the nation and received a letter of congratulations from President Richard Nixon of The United States. He graduated from the FBI National Academy; he served as Director of Security for 15 years for Goldsmith's Department Stores, and the last 22 years he worked as an investigator with David Horton and Associates, working closely with many attorneys in Jackson, Tennessee and the surrounding area. Jack was a member of the Brownsville Country Club where golf was his passion. He won many tournaments, including the Danny Thomas Memphis Classic Pro-Am, the Brownsville Country Club Championship, and Brownsville Country Club Senior Championship. Jack also bowled for the city of Memphis for many years representing the Memphis Police Department. He was a member of Brownsville Baptist Church where he served on the usher and security committees. He is survived by his wife Shirley Sullivan Wallace of Brownsville, Tennessee, one son Lee Wallace of Kansas City, Kansas, two daughters, Diane Wallace Swan of Collierville, Tennessee, Amy Wallace Todd of Jackson, TN, and one brother Bill Wallace of Memphis, Tennessee and seven grandchildren. Those serving as pallbearers will be E. A. Sullivan, Lowery Kirk, Roy McCage, Joe McCool, George Chapman, Gerald Rhea, P. J. Angotti and Don Willie. Honorary pallbearers will be David Horton, Lane Lewis, Matthew Cunningham, Parker Young, Ryan Wallace, Joe Byrd, Joshua Todd, Walter Wallace, Billy Garrett, Jim Aylor, Jim Kelly, Bobby Sullivan, and Mark Donahoe. The family has requested memorial contributions be directed to Brownsville Baptist Church, 5 N. Wilson Ave., Brownsville, TN, 38012 or The Men's Golf Association, Brownsville Country Club, P. O. Box 271, Brownsville, TN 38012. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 12:00PM until service time at 2:00PM at Lea and Simmons Funeral Home.
