Hubert's Obituary Surrounded by his family, Hubert L. Barcroft, Sr. age 91, died peacefully at his home July 19, 2009 after a brief illness. He was a deacon at Woodland Baptist Church and taught Sunday School there for almost forty years. He was also a Magistrate in the Haywood county Court for many years. Mr. Barcroft served his country in the US Army during World War II. As a Technical Sergeant in Company K 106th Infantry, he was stationed in the Hawaiian Islands and the South Pacific. A community leader and a devoted family man loved by all, he will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Stewart Barcroft, sister, Hilda Pentecost, and parents, Henry and Bettie Barcroft. He is survived by his children: Ilene Stewart Barcroft, Brownsville, TN, Sophie Barcroft Minton (Jack) Bowling Green, KY, and Hubert Barcroft, Jr. (Amy), Brownsville, TN; three granddaughters: Leslie Weiler Meng (Will), Marti Barcroft Cole (Ryan), and Emily Barcroft; two great grandsons: Hunter Cole and Joe William Meng IV; sister: Lumie Barcroft Barden Stokely; and his special caregiver: Lynia Snipes. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woodland Cemetery Association, 955 Barcroft Rd., Brownsville, TN 38012 or Woodland Baptist Church, 855 Woodland Church Rd., Brownsville, TN 38012.
