Henry's Obituary
Mr. Henry Gecovia Williams, age 86, died November 21, 2011 following a short illness. He was born in Henderson County, TN on July 21, 1925, to the late Glennie and Estella Bowman Williams. Also preceding him in death were two sisters: Lenora Bradford and Ruth Bradfield of McKenzie, TN. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Betty S. Williams of Bells, TN; two daughters: Beth Rice and husband Dan of Hickman, KY, and Becky Brumley and husband David of Franklin, TN; four grandchildren: Will and Sara Kate Rice of Hickman, KY, and Brimley and Bethany Hawks of Franklin, TN. One brother also survives him: Glynn Williams of Huntingdon, TN; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Mr. Williams received degrees from Lexington High School, University of Tennessee, and Memphis State, and spent his life as an educator. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was FFA advisor and agriculture teacher at Bells High School and retired from the Tennessee Department of Education in 1990. Following his retirement he remained active in the Tennessee FFA. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bells, TN where he was active until the time of his death, serving in numerous ways. He was also an avid gardner.
