Mr. Harold “Hal” Edward Rodgers, age 82, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at Allen Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN on Monday September 10, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Allen Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday, September 9, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Lea and Simmons Funeral Home and Monday, September 10, 2018 preceding funeral services from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. at Allen Baptist Church. Mr. Hal was born and raised in New Albany, MS. He joined the United States Air Force in November 1958 and retired as SMSgt in November 1974. He served his country during the Korea/Vietnam Wars. He loved the Lord and faithfully served Him. Anyone who knew Mr. Hal had to know his love of Southern Gospel Music. He enjoyed singing with many quartets over the years, but singing with his children was his greatest joy. Mr. Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Ben Rodgers and Ruby Rodgers, his daughter, Rhonda Rodgers Sweet and three brothers: Bobby Rodgers, Hugh Rodgers and Charles Rodgers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Siddall Rodgers, two sons, Tracy Rodgers (Debra) of Brownsville, TN and Michael Rodgers (Teresa) of Lakeland, TN, eight grandchildren, Aaron Sweet, Anna Sweet Brockman (Wesley), Ben Sweet, Levi Sweet, Greg Rodgers (Katherine), Landon Rodgers, Leland Rodgers and Aubrey Rodgers, two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Wayne Rodgers and Lily Avaleigh Rodgers, three sisters: Francis Byrd (Bob), Marie Pilcher (Johnny), Patricia Wilhite (Wayne), son-in-law, Rev. Thomas Sweet, sister-in-law, Debbie Cousar Rodgers and honorary grandchildren, Katie and Taylor Dedmon. Memorials are requested to Allen Baptist Church, c/o Mary Ann Flowers, 116 Hickory Hill Circle, Brownsville, TN 38012.
