Glenn Doyle West

Mr. Glenn Doyle West, age 87, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at his home in Mercer, TN. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Brownsville Memorial Gardens with Bro. Robert McGee officiating. Glenn was born on July 18, 1933 to William Arthur West and Beulah West Galloway. He served as a medic in the US Army and worked as an electrician and contractor for Sherkade Construction in New York. He spent most of his career with the Madison County Highway Department. Glenn was a caring and loving man who had a passion for fishing, gardening, flea markets, and offering a helping hand. He spent a lot of time looking out from his front porch, watching the hummingbirds, and waving at those who drove by. He found great pleasure in family including his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. He deeply loved his wife, son and daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his precious animals, Sampson, Bandit, and Lucky Kitty. He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Manning West of Mercer, TN; one son, Dr. Shane West, and his wife, Dr. Sarah West of Annapolis, MD; two grandchildren, Isabella West and Lincoln West; two brothers, Paul West and Bobby West; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy Stewart and Gary Manning; one sister, Becky Moore (Paul), all of Mercer, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents William Arthur West and Beulah Ussery West Galloway; one brother, Billy West and one sister, Faye Moses. Pallbearers for the graveside service are Joe Ferguson, Joe Carroll, Chuck Underwood, Randy Grisham, Victor Collins and Dr. Shane West. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jimmy Stewart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
