Gerald Ray's Obituary
Mr. Gerald Ray Cole age 62 of Gadsden, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 in Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1956 in Crockett County to Mary Alice Ellington Cole and the late Gerald Wayne “Red” Cole. Mr. Cole was a retired Master Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps with twenty-two years of active duty and eight years of reserve duty. In his free time he enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Bobby Wayne Cole, Tony Guinn Cole, Sandra Buckingham, and Marilyn Cole.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Bolden Cole of Gadsden; mother, Mary Alice Ellington Cole of Gadsden; five daughters, Lesli Carmel Holland of Jacks Creek, Amanda Gail Cottingham and husband Chris of Gadsden, Brittany Lee Cole of Michigan, Robbin Stephenson and husband Keith of Bells and Jennifer Pirtle and husband Jason of Bells; three sons, Steven Ray Cole and Jason Edward Cole both of Lexington and Bobby Ray Cole of Michigan; two sisters, Shelia Dozier and husband Terry and Sylvia Zelenka and husband Ed all of Trenton; two brothers, Scott Cole and wife Marla and Shane Cole and wife Sandra all of Gadsden. Other survivors include twenty-two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Sammy Henderson, Chance Henderson, David Porter, Riley Bolding, Will Lumley and Mark Moyers. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Climer and Paul Davidson.
Funeral services for Mr. Cole will be conducted Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bells Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Gadsden Methodist Cemetery with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
