George's Obituary
George Marlin Qualls, age 81, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the Crestview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on August 30, 1934 in Haywood County, TN, to the late Henry Richard Qualls and Louise Haynes Qualls. He was a member of the New Vision Community Church of Brownsville and retired heavy equipment operator for the Haywood County Highway Department. Mr. Qualls was a farmer and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was very active in his civic duties.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Betty Ann Qualls; three brothers: Melvin, Floyd and Henry Leroy Qualls; and one sister: Virginia Williams.
Survivors include his son: George Allen Qualls and his wife Diane of Chattanooga, TN and his daughter: Mary Louise Stevens and her husband Ed of Rehoboth Beach, DE; one brother: Billy Ray Qualls and his wife Dorothy of Bells, TN; four sisters: Ruth Vestal of Brownsville, TN; Mary Jane Cox and her husband Charles of Somerville, TN; Mattie Lou Marlar of Brownsville, TN and Betty Marie Davis and her husband Jimmy of Somerville, TN; He leaves a legacy of three grandchildren (Matthew Zareel and his wife Cynthia, Amanda M. Grigsby and Mitchell A. Qualls and his wife Dalet), four great-grandchildren (Gabriel Zareel, Kady Grigsby and Yadi and Bella Qualls) and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Qualls will be conducted on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Brownsville Funeral Home with Bro. Grover Westover officiating. Burial will follow in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. The Qualls family will receive friends at Brownsville Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Hospice of West Tennessee, Hospice Foundation Fund.
